It's always Fashion Week somewhere: As soon as the Spring 2016 ready-to-wear shows ended in Paris, bridal fashion week began in New York. It's a lacy, over-the-top affair highlighting popular designers like Reem Acra, Marchesa, and Hayley Paige. While some shows featured traditional renditions of the classic white wedding dress, others took a more unconventional route — this is fashion, after all.

The season's standout gowns skewed ultra-feminine in decadent lace and with heavy embellishment. Monique Lhuillier's fall 2016 collection took classic silhouettes and gave them modern functionality (detachable skirts — genius), fully encapsulating the fantasies of brides-to-be. Reem Acra embraced the Instagram generation with wedding-themed selfie sticks and bedazzled headphones, while Lazaro drew inspiration from an 18th-century painting. Whether it's a fresh take on a classic or an ode to the past, check out 48 of the best wedding dresses from Bridal Fashion Week, from Jenny Packham to Naeem Khan.
