Carine Roitfeld has unveiled more looks from her highly-anticipated collaboration with fast-fashion giant Uniqlo. Roitfeld's collection seems to be focused on outerwear and the fashion editor presents a range of double-breasted coats in different patterns, such as leopard and herringbone, and materials, like plastic-y looking vinyl. New images also reveal a faux-fur jacket, a variety of different shirts and skirts, plus a tee printed with a sketch of Roitfeld.
Most of these items are ones you wouldn't typically find at Uniqlo, where basics usually reign supreme. The Uniqlo designer Roitfeld worked with, Naoki Takizawa, admits as much to WWD. "All the pieces here are quite new for Uniqlo — a faux fur coat, a silk slipdress," he says. "It was a challenge to find the fabrics she wanted — and to produce them to her high standards." This is why the prices are a bit higher than you would expect from the fast-fashion chain.
Roitfeld's explained her design philosophy to WWD. "When clothes are very simple, it's the small details that matter." Which explains why she stuck with similar silhouettes—like the double-breasted coats and button-up shirts—and produced them in several different patterns and materials.
Roitfeld's collaboration with Uniqlo goes on sale October 29th. WWD reports that the partnership should continue for at least one more season.
