Pirelli Calendar 2016: See Amy Schumer, Serena Williams and More of This Year's Stars

To those who have religiously hung the Pirelli calendar on their walls for the past fifty years, the most recent iteration will come as a bit of a shock — and not in the usual NSFW way. The 2016 Pirelli calendar has forsaken its foam-covered, latex-clad, mostly naked models and instead selected 12 months' worth of women notable for their accomplishments.

Though the concept behind this year's shoot was announced back in September — including the fact that it would star Serena Williams, Patti Smith, Yoko Ono, Fran Lebowitz, and others — the full calendar was just unveiled today. In it, photographer Annie Leibovitz has shot women like Amy Schumer, Tavi Gevinson, model Natalia Vodianova, and Mellody Hobson, president of Ariel Investments, to be the faces of each month.

"Along with Playboy's decision in October to end nudity in its pages," the New York Times wrote, "the Pirelli pivot seems to give real substance to the theory that we are at a flexion point in the public objectification of female sexuality."

Though Serena Williams and Amy Schumer are both photographed topless in the calendar, Serena's leg and back muscles are the main focus, while the Times says that in Amy's case, "the joke being she was the one who did not get the message." See some of the photos from this year's calendar below.

Serena Williams, April

Patti Smith, November
