Lilly Pulitzer's Office Decor Includes Fat-Shaming Cartoons

The Cut just posted a tour of the Lilly Pulitzer headquarters or "corporate cabana" that's getting a lot of people talking. It's not because of the freeze-dried palm trees as decor, but a shot of two fat-shaming cartoons. "Put it down CARB FACE," one says, while the other one reads, "Just another day of fat, white, and hideous," with "you should probably just kill yourself" written in tiny letters. What would the non-snob founder of Lilly think of this? Racked visited Lilly Pulitzer's King of Prussia, Pennsylvania offices last September, but didn't come across these cartoons on our tour.

Update: It originally looked like the cartoons were pinned to a fridge in the office but now The Cut has updated the caption to reflect that the cartoons were hung in an unnamed employee's cubicle. The caption reads, "This image shows the personal illustrations of an employee not pictured in this story."

Lilly Pulitzer's VP of creative communications Jane Schoenborn told Business Insider: “These illustrations were the work of one individual and were posted in her personal work area. While we are an employer that does encourage people to decorate their own space, we are a female-dominated company and these images do not reflect our values. We apologize for any harm this may have caused.”
