Lauren Conrad — ur-blonde and longtime subject of hair appointment inspiration print-outs — is blonde no longer. Less than a week after debuting a book cover that features her in pearls, pastel, and her signature bl-ombré hair, Lauren Conrad went red, and the world wept.

While we may never find a logical explanation for such occurrences, especially during this most joyous holiday season, it's nice to know that Lauren Conrad, for what it's worth, seems happy. She posted the below photo on Instagram with the caption, "Clearly I'm obsessed with @kristin_ess," which refers to celebrity hair stylist Kristin Ess, whom we can safely assume is the person responsible.

We won't know for sure what this means for the world at large, however, until an extensive blog post is published on LaurenConrad.com, alongside a DIY at-home tutorial.
