The Off-The-Shoulder Top You Can't End Summer Without

Welcome back to Editor's Picks, a Friday series profiling the buys our editors are obsessed with. Last week, Racked fashion editor at large Rajni Jacques shared her current denim obsession; this week our fashion assistant Nia Porter explains the perfect end-of-summer top and jewelry pairing.

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

"Now that summer's on its way out the door, I want to show off my shoulders before it gets too cold. This off-the-shoulder Rebecca Minkoff blouse is an ideal, versatile end-of-summer top solution: breathable enough for daytime, with just enough sex appeal for night.

So as to not compete with the neckline, I opt to forgo a necklace and instead wear this with statement earrings. This minimalist (admittedly Céline-inspired) pair from Zara adds the perfect pop of color."

Personal style, in 140 characters or less: Black Jane Birkin — boyishly sexy bohemian with a love for flowy fabrics, extra snug denim, and natural hair.

What I splurge on: A perfect pair of re-worked jeans that hit right above the ankle and give my butt the oomph it needs to be great. I would pass on a plane ticket home to New Orleans just to have my good old friend Levi hug me in all the right places. (Sorry, Mom and Dad.)

What I save on: Jewelry, because less is more in my book. Also, no one's going to be able to tell that the stackable "gold" rings you've piled on came from H&M.

Best piece of shopping advice I've gotten: In this hilarious interview with Elle, Fran Lebowitz not only denounced bicycle helmets and yoga pants (I object!), she also spoke on the importance of curating items that reflect your own personal style, not the short-lived trends you see on the runway.
