Moda Operandi's Co-Founder Is Shutting Down Tinker Tailor

Aslaug Magnusdottir, the co-founder of Moda Operandi, is pulling the plug on her latest e-commerce project. WWD reports that Magnusdottir's Tinker Tailor, which specialized in customizable pieces, will cease operations and no longer take orders. "It is disappointing that the financing didn’t coincide with the company’s ambitions, but I truly believe Tinker Tailor has helped move the industry further down that path," Magnusdottir, Tinker Tailor's CEO and co-founder, told WWD. Magnusdottir personally contributed most of the funding for the venture herself.

Tinker Tailor launched a little more than a year ago in May 2014, offering customers the chance to design custom takes on clothing from designers like Rodarte, Osman, Honor, Kara Ross, Giambatista Valli, and Vivienne Westwood. Shoppers could add a sleeve or work with Tinker Tailor to alter designer pieces. The site also offered a made-to-order section which allowed customers to create their own clothing with different silhouettes and fabrics. Tinker Tailor also tried going offline as well, experimenting with a capsule collection created with NYC boutique Fivestory.
