Kate Spade may have axed its lower-priced Kate Spade Saturday line this year, but it's not giving up on casual wear. WWD reports that Kate Spade New York will show Broome Street this Friday, a new label that is designed to be the weekend version of Kate Spade. If that sounds familiar, WWD acknowledges that Broome Street will incorporate some of the insights gleaned from Kate Spade Saturday.

Broome Street will debut with 50 pieces for spring in neutral colors, including cotton tees, denim, woven shirts, sweaters, casual cotton dresses and skirts, and totes. Outerwear includes a khaki trench, denim jacket, and leather moto jacket.

While Broome Street isn't as dressy as Kate Spade, don't expect a Saturday-style price break. WWD reports that the prices will be in line with the prices from the main Kate Spade New York collection.  Broome Street items start at $65 and top out at $898.

When Kate Spade announced that the company was shutting down Saturday in January, the Saturday brand was said to be reorganized under the Kate Spade name as a casual weekend line. Now, Kate Spade New York president Deborah Lloyd told WWD that she feels Broome Street is a better fit for the brand than Saturday. "This one is designed to effortlessly sit and work with the Kate Spade New York line. It will be shown in our own stores and online. It will fit seamlessly together with everything we do," she said. You'll be able to shop Broome Street this spring in Kate Spade stores, select retailers, and on Kate Spade's website.
