The world's greatest tennis player and recent Vogue cover star Serena Williams just announced a new gig: star of the 2016 edition of the Pirelli Calendar. The famous calendar shoot traditionally involves models-of-the-minute like Gigi Hadid, Joan Smalls, and Candice Huffine, all of whom appeared in last year's latex-filled calendar.

"We can't wait to share the new calendar!" Pirelli tweeted after Serena initially broke the news across social media. "Thank you ladies for being part of our special project!"

This year, the company brought back photographer Annie Leibovitz's to shoot the calendar for the first time in 15 years; in the recent past, the models have been shot by Terry Richardson, Mario Testino, and Bruce Weber, among others. Williams isn't the first Olympic athlete to be featured in the Pirelli Calendar, according to i-D. Last time Leibovitz shot the calendar, she picked Olympic hurdler Jacqui Agyepong to star alongside two models and five dancers. The 2016 edition of the calendar is set to debut in November.

Update: With Leibovitz taking the reins, it seems she's opted to look beyond the modeling world for this year's Pirelli calendar. In addition to Williams, the 2016 iteration of the calendar will also feature Patti Smith, Yoko Ono, Tavi Gevinson, Ava DuVernay, and Fran Lebowitz, according to i-D. Watch a teaser video for the calendar below.
