Uniqlo's collaboration with former Hermès creative director Christophe Lemaire will hit stores this fall, and Elle spoke with Uniqlo's head of research and design Yuki Katsuta to find out what's going on with the collab. It won't be anything that's ever been seen before on Lemaire's runways, Katsuta explained. So no pieces pulled right from the archives, as seen in collaborations like Phillip Lim x Target. "It's interesting how we came up with a completely different point of view between our side and their side," Katsuta said. "We need to protect, respect, and support the designers. If we work that way, we can bring up new ideas that neither of us have done before," he said.

While Katsuta would only say that the Uniqlo and Lemaire line would be "unexpected," he did mention a few pieces to look for. Elle's Noah Silverstein writes, "That's not to say we shouldn't expect to see hints of Lemaire's, and his design partner Sarah-Lihn Tran's, affinity for reworked classics like shirting and outerwear, which Katsuta can confirm will appear in the range."
