Amazon Is Hiring 100,000 Holiday Employees

Amazon appears to be optimistic about sales this holiday season. The retailer is hiring 100,000 US seasonal workers this year, a whopping 25% more than last year according to the Wall Street Journal. In comparison, Amazon hired 80,000 workers last year. In addition to the seasonal worker hiring goals, the company has also hired a slew of full-time associates since August.

"We've hired more than 25,000 full-time associates across the U.S. in recent months and we're looking forward to adding 100,000 seasonal employees for the upcoming holiday season," Amazon's vice president of North America operations Mike Roth said in a statement according to CNBC.

Meanwhile, big box stores and department stores like Walmart, Macy's, and Target are all on track to hire about the same number of seasonal workers as last year. WSJ states that Wal-Mart wants to pick up 60,000 holiday hires this year, while Target's goal is to hire 70,000 seasonal workers and Macy’s intends to hire 85,000 seasonal workers.
