Each year, People magazine bestows the title of Sexiest Man Alive onto one tanned, brunette, tall, toned, and scruffy-but-not-too-scruffy celebrity, but this year, they did — well, exactly that. But there was one differentiating factor its choice for 2015, in that it seems uniquely appropriate for the year the world grappled with the concept of the man bun.

For the third time, Jimmy Kimmel was tasked with announcing the winner, and in true network television fashion, this simple announcement was stretched into a long segment. The mystery recipient was broadcast via livestream (face masked, of course), while the audience asked questions to determine who it was.

Once it had been discovered that the 2015 Sexiest Man Alive was a former athlete, was married to a celebrity, had kids, was British, had tattoos, and was definitely, absolutely David Beckham, one audience member asked, "Have you ever had a man bun?" to which he replied, "Yes."

By that point, no one was surprised to see David Beckham's face revealed behind the mask, but his acceptance speech was worth hearing, if only for when he said, "I would like to thank my hair stylist."
