What the Lingerie Experts at Journelle Wear to Work

See their office style and learn about the brands you should be shopping now.

When you're finally ready to graduate from lingerie mall brands, Journelle is where you go. The e-commerce site and boutique chainlet carries dozens of designers that span every single category: basic cotton bras to sexy lace bralettes, Spanx shapewear to Wolford thigh-highs, and full-coverage panties to teeny G-strings. Below, see what seven staffers wear to work, and find out which brands you should be shopping now.

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Claire Chambers, Founder and CEO, is wearing a Theory jumpsuit, a Zara jacket, J.Crew shoes, a street jewelry bracelet, and Stella McCartney lingerie.

What's your favorite brand that Journelle carries?
Honestly, I can't answer that. I started this company because I couldn't choose just one brand. I love them all.

What lingerie brand will you splurge on?
Myla is always delicate and beautiful. I also love supporting some of our emerging designers. Their approach to materials and silhouettes is always refreshing.

Describe your ideal lounging-around-the-house outfit.
A long robe is the right mix of cozy and dramatic.

What are your beauty must-haves?
3Lab moisturizer, M.A.C. mascara, and cherry ChapStick.

What's your typical wind-down routine before bed?
Usually it's a glass of wine, a long soak in the tub, and a few minutes of reading until I fall asleep. If it's been a particularly long or tough day, I'll opt for 20 minutes of an old-school sitcom while snuggled in bed with my fiancé.

Who makes the best T-shirt bra?
Chantelle, but not the ones you think. My go-to under a T-shirt or button-down is a perfectly fitted lacy demi, and they make the best ones out there.

Has working at an intimates company changed anything about the way you dress?
Not really, but it has legitimized what I was already doing—choosing my lingerie first, and then choosing an outfit that makes it work. That can be either about concealing it (a nubby pencil skirt is great in winter when you want to wear a stocking-and-suspender set) or finding a way to show it off (semi-sheer blouses feature heavily in my wardrobe).

Lyn Lewis, Director of Operations, is wearing an MM.LaFleur skirt, a Rag & Bone tank, a Sublime bra, and Fleur’t thong.

What lingerie brand will you splurge on?
Myla! Always well done.

Describe your ideal lounging-around-the-house outfit.
I like at-home clothes that make you feel like you should take the morning off and brew some extra coffee. A simple chemise (like the Journelle Laure) is my favorite for bed and lounging, along with a cottony robe (Eberjey's Lady Godiva in Slate). Also, I believe in being barefoot whenever possible.

What are your beauty must-haves?
Seven hours of sleep and things to look forward to.

What's your favorite brand that Journelle carries?
What a crazy question! There's lingerie for every mood and every outfit. Sometimes I'm in the mood for some neon L'Agent. More often though, I like to be simple. Well-done and classic lingerie from brands like Chantelle and Natori help me feel put together.

What's your typical wind-down routine before bed?
My evening wind down involves a cup of hot mint tea (winter) or a handful of chocolate chips (summer) at my bedside with a book. My grandmother used to joke that she read biographies to help her fall asleep. The joke was that she might be disinterested, but I think it's the opposite: immersing yourself in the outside world is the sweetest way to end a day, and the best way to ground yourself.

Who makes the best T-shirt bra?
Natori Feathers is hands down the best bra I have ever owned. And the people agree! It's Journelle's best seller. Classics are classics for a reason.

Who's your personal style icon and why?
Serena Williams. She is so strong (body, mind, spirit!) and is thus beautiful. I love her confidence and think she is a fabulous role model. She attacks life with gusto and passion.

Aubrey Meade, Visual Merchandiser, is wearing an Alix bodysuit, a Madewell skirt, an & Other Stories belt and necklace, Urban Outfitters shoes, earrings from New Orleans, and rings from & Other Stories, Artists & Fleas, and her grandmother.

Describe your ideal lounging-around-the-house outfit.
My ideal lounging outfit would have to be a midi-length chemise with an open robe. This is pretty much my everyday apartment outfit.

What are your beauty must-haves?
Nars lipsticks in various shades. My go-to colors are Roman Holiday and Honolulu Honey. For my skin I love Thayer Cucumber Witch Hazel and "C" Perfect Skin Oil by Nieves.

What's your favorite brand that Journelle carries?
It's hard to choose one, but I would have to say Fortnight. They've been a favorite of mine for years. They make the chicest longline wireless bras in a large range of sizes, including my true size!

Who makes the best T-shirt bra?
I've never been a T-shirt bra kind of girl. I much prefer an unlined underwire or wireless bra. Base Range is a brand I'm really obsessed with for everyday basics. Their styles are very cool and minimal and incredibly comfortable. Otherwise, I'm happy to just let my bra show through my tee.

What lingerie brand will you splurge on?
I'll splurge on Damaris and Bordelle, and of course Agent Provocateur.

Who's your personal style icon and why?
Stevie Nicks— I love her. She has that mystical goddess style evocative of the '70s, which is always a source of inspiration for me.

Has working at an intimates company changed anything about the way you dress?
Absolutely! Lingerie is a passion of mine and I've always selected it in the way I select my clothing. When you get that special piece you find ways to show it off, whether it's coordinating your bra straps to your accessories or going all out with a sheer top.

What's your typical wind-down routine before bed?
My typical wind-down routine includes washing my face, putting on a little rose oil, and cozying up in bed with a book or my iPad and HBO.

Karen LaPorte, Senior Manager of Operations, is wearing a Trashy Diva dress, Re-Mix shoes, Playclothes Vintage bangles, and a Lilipiache bralette.

Has working at an intimates company changed anything about the way you dress?
Not the way I dress, but certainly the way I look and feel in my clothes. Well made and great-fitting lingerie makes you stand a little taller and feel more confident!

What lingerie brand will you splurge on?
Chantal Thomass and Fleur of England.

What's your favorite brand that Journelle carries?
So hard to choose a favorite! I consistently purchase Fleur of EnglandOnly Hearts, and lately Else.

What's your typical wind-down routine before bed?
I would love to say I read, but once my head hits the pillow I'm out.

Describe your ideal lounging-around-the-house outfit.
I love to lounge in my pajamas. In the summer a cute Eberjey or Only Hearts romper. In the colder months, a chemise and my Arlotta cashmere robe.

What are your beauty must-haves?
Red lipstick and universal lip liner.

Who's your personal style icon and why?
Anna Karina. French New Wave. Enough said.

Who makes the best T-shirt bra?
I don't own a traditional T-shirt bra. Just bought the Dita Star Lift. Love that! My Chantal Thomass Rockin' Josephine is my go-to.

Allison Beale, Marketing Director, is wearing a Morgan Carper crop top and pant, Converse shoes, a vintage cuff and necklace from her grandma, Catbird rings, and a Bordelle bra.

Who's your personal style icon and why?
I grew up watching Charlie's Angels (in syndication, of course), so my first exposure was to the luxe, bohemian styles of California in the '70s. To me, those styles—and especially the women who wore them—ooze glamour and elegance in such a natural, easy way. Lauren Hutton, Farrah Fawcett, and Jane Birkin are some of my favorites.

What are your beauty must-haves?
Mascara, Josie Maran Argan Daily Moisturizer, Supergoop sunscreen, Weleda Skin Food, and Burts Bees. My new obsession is Glossier's Soothing Face Mist.

Has working at an intimates company changed anything about the way you dress?
Not necessarily—I've always dressed from the inside out. However, I do remember the first day I wore stay-ups to work during the winter. I was totally inspired by our CEO who did this through the Polar Vortex. It was amazing, like having this incredible secret all to myself. Sure, I commuted in my Bean Boots and puffy coat, but I knew what was underneath.

What's your favorite brand that Journelle carries?
Ah! That's so tough to answer. I have like ten, which is to say I'm not super loyal to a handful of brands. If I had to narrow it down, I'd say right now it's L'Agent by Agent Provocateur. The silhouettes are lovely—perfect for peeking out beneath a tank or silk blouse —flattering, and super wearable. It's AP minus the price tag.

What lingerie brand will you splurge on?
Top three: BordelleFleur of England, and La Perla.

Describe your ideal lounging-around-the-house outfit.
Since I've been at Journelle, I've collected quite a few chemises, so they're my after-work/rainy Saturday go-to lounge outfit, topped with this gorgeous Dear Bowie robe I have.

Eiryn Hernandez, Senior Sales Associate, is wearing a Nanette Lepore top, J Crew shorts, Jeffrey Campbell shoes, and a Myla lingerie set.

What's your favorite brand that Journelle carries?
Myla, because of their amazing lace work. And Mimi Holliday—fits so well!

Describe your ideal lounging-around-the-house outfit.
An oversized tee with cute extravagant undies, like the Damaris Panther Bow Knicker.

What are your beauty must-haves?
Lipstick and Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer.

Who make the best T-shirt bra?
This is tricky because what I wear under my T-shirts a lot of people tend to shy away from. I think Fleur of England makes great fitting balcony bras and their lace lays pretty flat against your skin so you don't really see it under T-shirts. It's also beautiful and elegant, and even when I'm dressed down I feel like I'm dressed up underneath.

Who's your personal style icon and why?
My style icon changes regurlay because my style tends to change a lot too. My recent style icon is Rachel Bilson: so casual yet chic. Hello boyfriend jeans!

Justina Wang, Director of Finance and Merchandise, is wearing an Everlane top, J Brand jeans, Jill Sander heels, David Yurman jewelry, a Club Monaco scarf, and a Lilipiache bra and thong.

What's your favorite brand that Journelle carries?
I love classic French pieces, so Chantelle is my go-to. Great fit and pretty laces.

What are your beauty must-haves?
I've been a loyal follower of Giorgio Armani makeup, especially the powder foundation with SPF. In terms of skincare, I've been trying out (and liking!) a few Korean brands.

What's your typical wind-down routine before bed?
I'm usually in front of the TV while eating a bowl of strawberries.

What lingerie brand will you splurge on?
Myla's unique and beautiful pieces are worth the splurge.

Describe your ideal lounging-around-the-house outfit.
I'm the T-shirts and shorts type. My favorite shorts are the silk Julianne Maria shorts.

Who makes the best T-shirt bra?
I've been a fan of the Chantelle C Paris T-shirt bra for years. It's fuller coverage than other styles I wear, but very comfortable.
