Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Snapchat is investing in the maker of Spring, according to Re/code's sources. It's not clear how much the messaging app is investing or if the deal has closed, and spokespeople for Snapchat and Spring declined to comment. But Re/code theorized that getting into e-commerce could be a plausible next step for Snapchat, which has been experimenting with building experiences around live events and also added a money transfer feature to the messaging app in the fall.

Spring's seamless shopping experience is based around easy, one tap checkouts and an Instagram-like feed of products from hundreds of brands. Spring announced in April that it had raised $25 million in funding, and when Spring launched last August, Racked counted SoulCycle, Proenza Schouler's CEO, and Steven Alan among the app's big name backers.
