Empire star Taraji P. Henson's look for the cover of the July issue of Allure is very '70s, with one particular style inspiration in mind. "It was very Diana Ross," Henson said in a behind-the-scenes video about the Allure shoot. "Very disco, Studio 54, big big big hair, lots of jewelry, big earrings. The stuff I like to wear," she said. Henson sports a plunging Lurex chiffon dress by J. Mendel on the cover, as well as bejeweled and glittery evening gowns from designers like Dsquared.

In the cover story, Henson also reveals that she has some serious beauty skills of her own. She ran a salon out of her apartment during college and charged $20 a person. "Oh, yeah, I knew how to hustle and make money. We used to do wet sets.... I bought a hooded dryer, and I had my box of rollers," she told Allure. "I could have gone to jail; I had no license whatsoever. But it was just my friends. They were like, 'Girl, hook me up.'" She also taught herself how to do nails. "If I get bored, I'll put a full set on," she said.
