Willow Smith Talks Gloria Steinem, Feminine Powers, and Her Ideal World in I-D Magazine

I-D has tapped the most mature 14 year-old of all time to cover its pre-fall 2015, "Coming of Age" issue. Willow Smith, daughter of Will and Jada Pinkett, invites the magazine into her existential world, where she ponders nature and the feminine powers of the universe.

When asked about how she identifies with women like Gloria Steinem and bell hooks, the musician responded, "Just being with them opened my eyes so much." She went on to discuss a frequent conversation she'd have with her mother as a child:

When I was little, my mum always used to tell me about Goddesses and the feminine powers of the universe, and I'd always be so confused because everyone said God was a man. I felt this strong feminine energy in my life but society is on this whole other polarity. It's always been so confusing to me... I feel that my song Female Energy inspires a lot of girls to reach for that Goddess entity.

The teenager, who is clearly unafraid to speak her mind, went on to discuss her own vision of the world, which includes "one big tribe," but leaves out "traffic, diapers, and pollution." Sounds swell.
