The CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Selects Three Winners for First Time Ever

For the first time ever, the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund has more than one winner — three to be exact. Vogue reports that this year's selection committee, which included Jenna Lyons, Anna Wintour, and Diane von Furstenberg, decided to give the title to three designers without a runner-up. The 2015 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund winners are Racked Style Crush Aurora James of Brother Vellies, Rio Uribe of Gypsy Sport, and Jonathan Simkhai.

Each designers will receive a $300,000 prize to reinvest in their respective labels. That money is tied to a yearlong mentorship with an industry veteran as well.

The winners were selected from a class of 10 Fashion Fund finalists. Each finalist completed a design challenge specific to the competition, and also presented their work at a runway show at the Chateau Marmont in LA in October.

James's Brother Vellies's footwear line focuses on handcrafted sandals and boots made by artisans in Africa, Uribe's Gypsy Sport is known for its breakdancing models and gender-fluid streetwear, and womenswear designer Jonathan Simkhai creates heavily textured pieces for day and night.
