Flats Are a No-Cannes-Do at Fancy Film Festival

When it comes to the Cannes Film Festival, it's "no heels, no entry." According to Screen, a number of older women were rejected from the Saturday night screening of Carol, a film starring Cate Blanchett, due to the lack of height on their shoes. Although the festival declined to comment on the incident, a spokesperson did confirm that "it is obligatory for all women to wear high-heels to red-carpet showings," according to the film publication.

While in Cannes, Emily Blunt weighed in the on the matter, urging instead to ban heels. She said, "I think everyone should wear flats, to be honest. We shouldn't wear high heels anymore. That's just my point of view. I prefer to wear Converse sneakers." Amen, sister.
