Zara Bans Customer From Store Because of Her Hijab

A French customer trying to shop at a Zara store in Paris after the terrorist attacks was turned away from the store because of her hijab, Complex reports. A Zara security guard barred her from entering, saying that no customer was allowed to wear hats, hoods, or any type of head covering in the store. She asks if she could at least shop with a veil on instead, but he refuses again. "If things change, they'll change but I don't make the rules," he says in a video clip of the altercation, which has amassed over 450,000 views on YouTube.

Zara has since fired the security guard and the store manager, and posted a lengthy apology on Facebook. "Our country head in France has personally contacted this customer to apologise for the incident and to express our utter disagreements with such actions, which are completely opposed to the principles of our company," the statement reads. "Both the security staff and the store manager involved with this specific incident have been sanctioned."
