Furry Shoes Step Back Into the Spotlight for Fall

One of fall's biggest trends is actually this season's most controversial. Furry shoes overtook the fall 2015 runways, and as a result, dominated as the go-to statement accessory on street style stars and social media icons. The kangaroo fur-lined loafers Gucci sent down the runway definitely take the cake for the most sought-after fall shoe, but not without the expected criticism. Tibi and Dolce & Gabbana also took the trend in stride with slingbacks and mules in shearling and mink, while Maison Margiela debuted an exaggerated, faux-fur pair of pink wedges.

This isn't the first time fur has found its way onto luxury footwear. Céline's Spring 2013 "furkenstocks" and heels appeared on everyone from Miley Cyrus to Kim Kardashian, and that same year, Brother Vellies' Aurora James began using springbok fur as a trademark for her African-made sandals and boots. Get the look this fall with 15 pairs of the season's most luxurious take on footwear — from Asos to Proenza Schouler — all shoppable in our gallery above.
