Net-A-Porter's beauty section has been around for two years, and now its sister site The Outnet is experimenting with offering beauty products as well. WWD reports that on October 25th, The Outnet will launch a special holiday section with gift sets from 18 designer beauty brands like Lipstick Queen, By Terry, Natura Bisse, Ren, and 111 Skin. The sets will feature full-size beauty products at a price that is 20% to 30% less than if you were to buy all the products individually. For example, The Outnet's Lipstick Queen sets will be priced at $48 and $38 (normally priced at $70 and $72), and a Natura Bisse skincare set will be $524 on The Outnet (normally priced at $655).
Putting together gift value sets made sense for the luxury discount site, The Outnet's director of global sales and marketing explained. "The challenge is that we’re an off-price retailer — and we didn’t want to offer off-price beauty," Andres Sosa told WWD. "We wanted to see how can we be true to the DNA of everything we do and try and find something exclusive to us that no one else had." The holiday beauty kits created by Sosa and The Outnet team are a special promotion, but when asked if beauty would become a permanent feature on the site, Sosa said, "We aren’t saying no."
