Raf Simons's sudden exit from Dior has apparently left the storied French label hanging. WWD reports that Dior, for now, will go on without a lead designer, planning to have at least the next two collections created by an in-house team. This means the team that Simons left behind is charged with creating Dior's spring 2016 couture collection and fall's 2016 ready-to-wear range. These collections will show in January and March, respectively.
WWD also notes that Dior does not intend to put an existing staff member in charge in the interim — as it did when John Galliano was booted from the label for making anti-Semitic comments in 2011.
Dior believes it won't have any problem carrying over the success it had with Simons. WWD notes that the delay in naming the designer's successor is mostly due to the label's willingness to wait until it has found the exact right candidate.
