Emmys 2015 Winners: Who Got a Cool, New Shelf Accessory

If the nominations at this year's Emmy Awards look different, it's because they are different. The Television Academy passed a new set of rules for the 2015 award show, setting a time limit for comedies. As far as the awards committee is concerned, comedies are thirty minutes or less, while a drama is over thirty minutes. Think all of your favorite TV shows comply to that rule? It depends. Do you watch Orange Is the New Black? The Netflix original will be lumped in the drama categories, which the show runners aren't ecstatic about. The other major change is that nominations include seven shows instead of five per category, which accounts for the uptick in stuff on TV to give awards to.

Nevertheless, the 2015 Emmy nominations contain plenty of the usual suspects. Whether or not Jon Snow is still alive, Game of Thrones has the most nominations per single show in 2015, coming in at a whopping 24. Mad Men rounds off its final, meditative season with 11 nominations. It racked up 116 over its seven seasons, with 15 wins.

Netflix scored 34 nominations in 2015, which may be a record number for the streaming service, but it's only three more than in 2014. When it comes to alternative networks, Amazon Prime is the real winner, which jumped from zero nominations in 2014, to 12 in 2015 all thanks to its incredibly successful Transparent.
