What the Team at Old Navy's SF Headquarters Wears to Work

Old Navy has come a long way since the days of the performance fleece jingle. Today, the company is more known for its affordable denim line and impressive activewear selection than it is $1 rubber flip flops (though those are still big sellers in the summertime). Needless to say, the team at the company's San Francisco headquarters has had years to master mixing high and low. Below, see what six employees wear to work in a city that always requires a light jacket and a lot of layering.

Talitha Murray, Senior Merchant for Old Navy Online, is wearing Old Navy culottes, a Club Monaco top, Banana Republic mules, a Mansur Gavriel bucket bag, a Daniel Wellington watch, and an antique necklace from Indonesia.

What are your three beauty must-haves?
Moisturizer with SPF, blush, and a manicure. I talk with hands a lot, so my nails are always on show!

What are Old Navy’s best deals?
Everything is a great deal at Old Navy! But I have to say that our denim can’t be beat.

What’s your typical workday outfit?
I don’t have a go-to outfit. It really changes based on my mood, the weather, and my schedule for the day. But one thing I’m almost always in is heels.

What’s the one thing you think shoppers don’t know about Old Navy?
Old Navy has definitely grown up and become a formidable player in the fashion industry. A lot of people still think of Old Navy as offering just basic items in a large run of colors, but our assortment has evolved to be aspirational, thoughtfully curated, and on-trend.

Who’s your style icon, and why?
Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. She had an impeccable fashion sense and was elegant, modern, and classic all at once. She embodied what it means to have timeless style.

How would you describe San Francisco style?
San Franciscans have an appreciation for individuality and creativity, and it reflects in the city’s sense of style—whether through mixing high and low, combining classic and trendy pieces, or simply layering.

Erin Bailey, Associate Manager of PR & Partnerships, is wearing an Old Navy top and scarf, Citizens of Humanity jeans, Joie shoes, vintage bracelets and rings, and a Marc Jacobs watch.

What's your typical workday outfit?
I usually gravitate toward simple and comfortable outfits that can easily take me from work to happy hour or dinner. I’m often in a black top, skinny jeans, and colored heels or jewelry.

What's Old Navy's best basic?
I think Old Navy has a really solid collection of dresses. Everyone is always looking for more dresses, and ours are on-trend and affordable.

What are your three beauty must-haves?
Nars blush, perfume, and lipgloss.

What's the Old Navy item you own that you get the most compliments on?
Old Navy’s rompers and jumpsuits. I can’t stop buying them—I must have ten different ones from the summer season alone. They're perfect for vacations or weekend getaways.

Who's your style icon, and why?
I get inspiration for my style everywhere: celebrities like Olivia Palermo and Poppy Delvingne, bloggers like Gal Meets Glam, magazines (obsessed with People StyleWatch) and strangers on the street.

Julie Luker, Director of PR & Partnerships, is wearing an Old Navy dress, a Vince jacket, Tory Burch shoes, a Goyard wallet, Tiffany & Co. rings and bracelets, and a Rolex watch.

What's Old Navy's best basic?
Our dress game is on point. I've scooped up tons of great pieces this season in a mix of silhouettes and patterns.

What are your three beauty must-haves?
A manicure, tinted moisturizer, and Smith's Rosebud Salve (I have jars of it everywhere!)

What's your typical workday outfit?
Jeans, a silky top, and a blazer is my go-to uniform. Although, at over six months pregnant, I'm all about dresses without waistlines lately!

Who's your style icon, and why?
We work with a number of fashion bloggers (Damsel in DiorGal Meets GlamKendi Everyday), and I'm consistently looking to them for inspiration. These women are putting together picture-perfect, shoppable outfits everyday with such apparent ease. I'm always excited to open Instagram and see how they've mastered the high/low mix.

What are Old Navy's best deals?
Active is an amazing, growing category for the brand, and the prices are unbeatable. Once you try it, you become a convert.

How would you describe San Francisco style?
San Francisco is such a mix, and the style changes by neighborhood. You've got your preppy, monogrammed crew in the Marina, the fedora-wearing hipsters in Hayes Valley, and the entrepreneurs in hoodies in the South Bay. It's fun to walk a few blocks and see how the style changes. The one thing everyone has in common though is a knack for layering. The temperature changes constantly throughout the day as the fog rolls in and out.

What's it like working for a fashion company in San Francisco?
San Francisco is rooted in innovation, and fashion is rapidly evolving as the store and e-commerce spaces become more seamless. Being in the fashion industry in a tech town helps you to think strategically about the consumer and retail experience.

Tiffanie Wu, Merchandiser of Women’s Woven Tops, is wearing an Old Navy blouse, Citizens of Humanity jeans, and Kurt Geiger shoes.

What's one thing you think shoppers don't know about Old Navy?
How much great fashion we have. We put a lot of passion into capturing trends and telling product stories, and every season I think our stores look better than ever.

What are your three beauty must-haves?
It’s simple and boring, but I swear by sleep, hydration, and sunscreen. You just can’t keep your skin in a good place without those things. I’m more of a hair-product person, and my favorites are Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray and Sachajuan Volume Powder.

What's the Old Navy item you own that you get the most compliments on?
A pair of black double-strap slide sandals. People can never believe they’re Old Navy.

How would you describe San Francisco style?
San Francisco style is really casual, and the weather fluctuates a lot during the day, so layers are key. On a typical day you wake up to 50s and fog, but by lunchtime it’s burned off to become 70, beautiful, and sunny. Then in the evening, when you’re on your way home or out to dinner, it’s back to the 60s with gusting winds. It’s just unpredictable! Lightweight jackets are a must—I’ve never owned so many as I do now that I live here.

What's your typical workday outfit?
Usually denim and black, white, or grey—it makes the mornings easier! I wear a lot of our tops, and I’ll put on heels if I have a day of sitting meetings, but we tend to be on-the-go most of the time. Ankle boots, sneakers, and sandals all have a place in my closet.

Tony Sananikone, Director and Photography Stylist, is wearing a Sounthavong shirt, a RRL denim jacket, a Lanvin ascot, Old Navy jeans, Gucci shoes, and a Cartier watch.

How would you describe San Francisco style?
San Francisco style is pretty eclectic. What part of the city/'burbs you live in defines your style, from Mission hipsters to the preppy Marina and the grunge of the Haight. What they all have in common is function. When the fog rolls in at six, you better have a light jacket handy.

What’s one thing you think shoppers don’t know about Old Navy?
What shoppers don’t know about Old Navy is the focus on fit for various body types. I love the mens woven button down shirts that come in two fits: classic and slim. I like my shirts more tailored, so the slim fit is perfect for my body type.

What’s your typical workday outfit?
I like to feel comfortable but look put together, so my go-to items are wingtip boots, skinny jeans, and a button down shirt—tunic style shirt with a longer length—and a great jacket.

What are your three beauty must-haves?
La Mer The Eye Concentrate cream to help with dark circles after those late nights out. Mario Badesc skin care, which uses drying lotion uses calamine and zinc to reduce redness and disinfect pimples on the spot. And Prada lip balm—each box contains 30 individual wrapped tubes, so it's great for gift bags and it’s a size of a quarter, so not bulky in your pocket.

Who’s your style icon, and why?
Tom Ford. I've been a fan since he was a designer at Gucci and was always really impressed with what he did for that brand. But style and fashion are about more than the clothes—it’s the lifestyle you create with them—and I was so impressed with the work he did on the film The Single Man. As a new father, I’ve been really impressed with his ability to have a family and continue to be an incredibly relevant driving force in the fashion community.

Abigail Thompson, Senior Manager of Styling, is wearing Old Navy jeans, an Isabel Marant jacket, a Joie shirt, Rag & Bone boots, and a Balenciaga bag.

What's Old Navy's best basic?
The best basic is the Rockstar jean. It's flattering on everyone and comes in great washes—and even a high rise!

What are your three beauty must-haves?
Monthly facials, lipgloss, and a smile.

What's your typical workday outfit?
Typical workday is jeans, heels, a tee and a blazer.

Who's your style icon, and why?
My mom. Classic style and grace are always iconic.

What are Old Navy's best deals?
Soft cotton linen tees. Everyone is making them and ours are soft, comfortable, and under $20.
