Queen Elizabeth II Trots Out Imperial State Crown for Incredibly Fancy Event

Queen Elizabeth II whipped out her reading glasses just before outlining the government's agenda for the year at the State Opening of Parliament. The elaborate event jumps fully into British tradition, as the Queen walks through Westminster Palace draped in diamonds and a lengthy red cape flanked by a fleet of footmen.

Hard to miss on top of the Queen's head is the Imperial State Crown, which weighs two pounds, contains 2,868 diamonds, and is "notoriously difficult to wear." For the event, the Queen was joined by her husband Prince Philip, son Prince Charles, and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall. What, did you expect Princess Charlotte to make an appearance? Keep dreamin'.
