Ikea's New Designer Line Includes a Lot of Cork

Ikea will launch a new collection from star British designer Ilse Crawford in October, and as Fast Company notes, the look of the Sinnerlig line is a departure for the Swedish furniture giant. It's all about natural materials, featuring cork tables and stools, stoneware pitchers, dried seagrass storage baskets, bamboo pendant lights, and daybeds made with jute webbing. There are no neon colors here, it's all soothing neutrals.

Crawford explained to Dezeen that the line is deliberately low-key. "[Ikea] asked us to work in natural materials, which of course is very appealing to bring the physical quality to our range, which I think they would say themselves is very missing," she told Dezeen. "I think they know that their surfaces have become quite flat in the push for perfection."

Ikea says that the Sinnerlig line is more than 30 pieces, which are grouped into three loose categories: working, dining, and lounging. See more images here and view Ikea's video of the collection below.
