WSJ Magazine profiled a day in the life of Alexander Wang for its September issue, which is full of fun facts about his time spent juggling two brands—except Wang and Balenciaga officially parted ways last week. Now, the profile reads as all the reasons why Wang no longer wanted to keep up the Herculean task of manning two huge, successful brands (aside, of course, from the official reason of wanting more time to spend on his namesake line). Life sounded pretty lonely for Wang during his days with Balenciaga:

He spent 12 weeks per year working on Balenciaga in Paris. During that time, he lived out of a hotel and ordered in a lot of Chinese food.

He emails himself about 20 times a day. It's how he kept track of his new ideas. Then, at the end of the day, he compiled all the emails into one large email that he also sent to himself.

Some of his most relaxing hours are spent in transit. "Flying's very therapeutic," Wang told WSJ reporter Christopher Ross. "It gives me a chance to reflect."

The last point errs more on the side of a lovely reason to focus on his own brand:

His 72-year-old mother consults on his namesake line. The brand is family owned, and Wang says that his mother wants to take on even more than she already does.
