When Concrete + Water opened up in October 2014, the indie boutique brought a jolt of energy (and good taste) to the Williamsburg shopping scene. Its selection of emerging designers is a great source of inspiration and discovery—but one that has only been open to Brooklynites and visitors to the borough. That is, until today, when the Driggs Avenue shop finally launched online shopping.

"We've known we wanted to get online since we opened," shared co-owner Hannah Dilworth via e-mail. "But we always felt that we wanted to really establish our brand in-store so when we did launch, people would know what we were about and understand our aesthetic." In the year-and-a-half since they've opened, we'd say people definitely get it. The young retailer has found a loyal following and topped many best-of-Williamsburg lists, ours included.

So, what to buy first, now that you don't need to trek to Brooklyn for an outfit that makes you look like you did?

The current selection is a pared-down list of in-store favorites, with lots of artsy basics from indie designers like Kurt Lyle, Whit, Nomia, and Ilana Kohn, who makes Dilworth's top pick at the moment: an oversized linen jumpsuit with a cropped, wide leg cut. "I've lived in them for two summers now," she says, "and I just love selling them to girls who I know will do the same." Look forward to additions from brands including Ganni, Nanushka, Shaina Mote, and Corridor in the future.

"We feel good about what we've accomplished so far and this is just an exciting step forward for us," Dilworth said. It's also an exciting step forward for our online shopping habit.
