It's been a good month for fashion film fans: first, news broke about an upcoming Alexander McQueen biopic, and now, there's a documentary about legendary shoe designer Manolo Blahnik in the works.

The documentary feature film will be called Manolo (The Boy Who Made Shoes for Lizards). It's directed by Michael Roberts, who's worked as a filmmaker, photographer, stylist, illustrator, author, and journalist. He recently co-authored Grace Coddington’s best-selling memoir.

According to a press release, the Manolo documentary is going to include cameos from many, many famous shoe lovers, including Anna Wintour, Andre Leon Talley, Paloma Picasso, Candace Bushnell, Charlotte Olympia, Iman, Rihanna, Naomi Campbell, Isaac Mizrahi, Penelope Tree, and Rupert Everett.

"Having known Manolo for over 30 years, I can say he is a multifaceted intellectual and romantic whose engaging mind and ingenious work is made for entertaining cinema," Roberts said in a statement.

If you're intrigued by the film's subtitle, there's a three-minute film with the same name on the Manolo Blahnik website right now, also directed by Michael Roberts. The website describes the short as a "film showing Manolo as a little boy running around the gardens of his hometown in the Canary Islands obsessed with making shoes for the little reptiles out of candy wrappers. One can easily see where Manolo’s love of nature and botany comes from and how they always permeate his designs."
