Zara just unveiled a new non-gender specific section, called Ungendered, on its website.

Genderless fashion has been a trending topic in the fashion industry for the past few seasons. Designers like J.W. Anderson, Rick Owens, and even Gucci have been experimenting with agender clothing, or throwing the notion out the window completely. And while these are all important steps, you could argue that Zara — with its $14.8 billion in annual sales — throwing its weight beyond the movement is the most important domino to fall so far.

The new Ungendered section features T-shirts, light wash unisex jeans, shorts, and joggers that aren't specific to men or women, and the products are modeled on the site by both genders. The line also meets today's minimalist standards with simple grey T-shirts and sweaters, cozy sweatpants, and light wash "unisex jeans."

Genderless clothing won't be something new to those paying attention to the fashion industry, but it is obviously more important for the concept to hit mainstream retailers. Target recently announced that the kids furniture and apparel line it has in development will be gender neutral, and you can shop the Ungendered section on Zara right now.
