The jump from red carpet-friendly cocktail dresses to wedding gowns isn't that surprising for Self Portrait, the British brand known for its distinctive lace designs. Today, its first bridal collection launches on Net-a-Porter with five alterna-bride gowns, including two that are exclusive to Net-a-Porter.
The best news is that these gowns are wallet-friendly, starting at $435 for a minidress and $500 for an off-the-shoulder chiffon gown then topping out at $1,170 for a crepon-trimmed lace gown.
"I drew my inspiration from icons of the sixties and seventies, particularly the rock'n'roll styles of Bianca Jagger and Pattie Boyd, who were challenging the norms of dress," Self Portrait designer Han Chong told Vogue UK. "The pieces in my bridal debut are not your typical gowns — they were created for the untraditional bride."
