The Grammys had plenty of talked-about hair, from Taylor Swift's Anna Wintour pageboy to Lady Gaga's bright orange Bowie tribute. But none of them topped Zendaya, who boldly tread onto the red carpet with perhaps the most divisive hairstyle in history: a mullet.

It's her precise sense of adventure, however, that landed her the job of hair brand Chi's first-ever celebrity spokesmodel. At a launch party in New York City for her new line of products last night, Zendaya's stylist Law Roach played interviewer, in which he asked his muse questions on hair and beauty.

During the discussion, however, Roach took it upon himself to address how they came up with the idea for her Grammys look, and the fact that yes, Zendaya was totally prepared for all those mullet jokes on Twitter.

He says:

By the way, this girl is one-hundred percent fearless when it comes to trying anything. I'm sure you guys all saw the Grammys. I said, "Hey, let's do a suit and a mullet! And not only are we going to do a mullet but we're gonna do a blonde mullet, and you are going to be compared to Joe Dirt and Billy Ray Cyrus." And she said — this is the truth — she said, "I don't care. I think it's cool."

Zendaya then responded on her own, utilizing the well-known adage that all press is indeed good press. "Some would say the mullet didn't work out," she said. "But to me, they were talking about it, so I think it worked out."

Watch the rest of her response below (that incredible dress, by the way, is Suno, while Law's coat is Vivienne Westwood).
