Chef Shuffles: Joseph Humphrey IN at The Advocate

Opening chef John Griffiths is moving on from his post as executive chef of Berkeley's The Advocate. Taking his place is chef Joseph Humphrey, whose been cooking through the Bay Area for many years, including stints with Mina Group, One Market, The Restaurant at Meadowood and Auberge du Soleil. Humphrey's fine dining background will be an interesting fit in the "casual but refined" environment at The Advocate, which is the second restaurant from the team behind Comal. No word yet on where Griffiths will land next, but stay tuned.

David Goody has quietly moved on from Alta CA, after taking over the kitchen from opening chef Yoni Levy last spring. Bauer upgraded the restaurant from two to three stars over the summer. No word on what Goody's next project will be, though sources say he's headed to Chicago for his next venture. Heading up restaurant for the moment is Anthony Lee, who has been in the kitchen since at least November.

Melissa Chou, pastry chef at year-old Mourad, has parted ways with the restaurant. Apparently Chou moved on at the end of last year, and is reportedly joining forces with chef Brandon Jew at his upcoming Mister Jiu's. (Given the influx of young talent to that project —Huxley's Sara Hauman also left her post to join— it's going to be even more hotly anticipated.) Her replacement is Vincen Attali, whose pedigree includes working with Dominique Ansel at Daniel in NYC, and Joël Robuchon in Las Vegas.
