NIMBY Corner

Well, this is a new one: the In-N-Out Burger planned to open at the foot of the Webster Tube in Alameda is encountering friction from NIMBY neighbors, who think that its late-night hours will make it a "vulnerable site" for crime. Even though many other late-night fast-food spots are right nearby and acting Alameda police chief Paul Rolleri says he's "not concerned," district attorney Nancy O'Malley is trying to get the project shut down at the Planning Board. Considering that pretty much everyone would kill to have the beloved burger chain in their backyard, this one's a head-scratcher. [~ EN ~]
