Ice-cream fans have something new to scream for on Temescal Alley, as peripatetic scoop cycle Curbside Creamery has put down its kickstand. Owner Tori Wentworth opened her small brick-and-mortar stand in time for this weekend's First Friday event. She's a self-taught ice-cream maker who initially launched her business to create faux-ice cream for the underserved vegan market, but now serves a roughly half-and-half offering of standard and vegan creations, the former made with Straus dairy and the latter made with cashew milk.

Wentworth generally eschews unusual flavors for more nostalgic fare, with options like mint chip, cinnamon, fresh strawberry, and peanut butter fudge stripe. There are also some more modern flavors, like Thai iced tea and salted caramel, in her repertoire. She also offers a rotating trio of cookie sandwiches (two of which are vegan) with cookies from fellow Oaklanders Little Ladybug Bakery; this weekend's options included vanilla with bourbon on gingersnaps and chocolate chocolate chip on vegan peanut butter cookies. She's using cones from Little Ladybug as well, in regular and gluten-free varieties, and hopes to add soft-serve and floats down the line. Hours for the new shop are Tuesday-Thursday, 12-6 pm, and Friday-Sunday, 12-8 pm. You can also still catch Curbside's trike at local farmer's markets; it appears at Grand Lake on Saturdays (10 am-2 pm) and Temescal on Sundays (9:30 am-1 pm).
