Jack's Oyster Bar & Fish House Headed to Oakland

With five-year-old Bocanova under their belts, Rick Hackett and Meredith Melville are no strangers to running a restaurant in Jack London Square. Now, they'll be bringing a second spot to the area in the form of Jack's Oyster Bar & Fish House, a casual seafood-focused restaurant that will draw inspiration from Hog Island Oyster Company's booming Ferry Building location.

Inside Scoop has the details, which include plans to offer a host of seafood chowders in addition to the oyster bar (think American classics like Manhattan and Rhode Island styles, plus variations like a Portuguese chowder with chorizo, and something akin to a cioppino). They'll also have three special seafood rolls per day, with a lobster roll on a housemade pretzel bun chief among them.

Though details on the space are scarce, it'll be 70 seats, with room for 20 people at counter. Hackett and Melville are targeting an August arrival, so look for this one to debut before Indian summer begins in earnest.
