The owners of Toomie's Thai Cuisine in Alameda have been hit with a $481,813 citation for violation of minimum wage and overtime laws after they allegedly paid their servers only $45 in cash per day and kitchen staff between $75 and $120. According to California's Department of Industrial Relations, workers at Toomie's "routinely worked at least 10.5 hours each day, up to seven days a week" and are now due $373,613 back from the owners, who will also owe $108,200 in civil penalties.
