Awards Season

Congrats to Chez Panisse legend Alice Waters, who took home the Humanitarian Innovator of the Year prize from WSJ. Magazine on Wednesday night. The prize was for her work with the Edible Schoolyard Project, which has built gardens in over 2,000 schools, teaching kids about nutrition and serving as an educational model for classes. It was a bittersweet moment for the woman David Chang calls "an always-relevant badass": after recovering from Chez Panisse's fire, her home was also robbed late this summer, with the thieves snatching priceless heirloom jewelry.
