Three New Italian Spots Arriving Soon

The perennial siren song of Italian food continues, with three new ristorantes (two in SF and one in Berkeley) announcing their arrivals on the scene in the past week. First up is Trattoria da Vittorio, which is taking over the Cafe For All Seasons space in West Portal that shuttered due to health violations last year. New owner Vittorio D'Urzo has managed numerous Italian spots in the Peninsula, and told Inside Scoop that he's hoping to bring authentic Southern Italian fare to the 'hood. The menu will include pizza from Neapolitan pizzaiolo Antonio Luongo, and food from AcquaPazza alum Filippo Cannone. He's targeting mid-April for opening.

Next up on the list is Monarch Trading Co., which will be taking over the soon-to-close Caffe Venezia space in Berkeley with a more California-oriented (but still pizza-centric) menu. New owner Joel DiGiorgio, a Berkeley native who's family friends with Venezia's owners, also hopes to serve salads and plenty of California-made wine and beer, and he's targeting a summer opening, according to Berkeleyside Nosh. Fans of Venezia, meanwhile, can say goodbye with a special opera dinner on Tuesday, April 9.

Finally, a bit of a mystery: Cole Valley SF reports that late, lamented Cole Valley sushi spot Hama-Ko will become an Italian restaurant and wine bar, though we weren't able to get any more info on who, exactly, is involved.
