Bright and early this morning, Temescal favorite Doughnut Dolly opened its doors at 9th and Gilman. It's owner Hannah Hoffman's second location, and the first in Berkeley, where she grew up in the kitchen of Chez Panisse with her mom, pastry chef Lisa Goines. The new shop carries over much of what made Hoffman's original location in Temescal Alley a hit, with a rotating menu of four doughnut filling flavors (the opening day menu includes the signature crème fraîche and vanilla bean "naughty" cream, strawberry jam, dark chocolate, and bourbon cream).

More menu items may be on the way, but for now, Hoffman is keeping them under wraps and keeping her sweet selection of jam- and chocolate-filled doughnuts front and center. Hours for the new spot are Wednesday-Sunday, 7am-4pm (or until sold out). And today, there's free coffee on offer to celebrate opening day.
