Apparently Penrose & Sons, the new Oakland project from Charlie Hallowell (Pizzaiolo, Boot & Shoe Service) is moving along at a pretty good clip: he's now anticipating that it'll open in early October, with a focus on meat grilled in the hearth and North African and Middle Eastern flavors. He'll also emphasize the bar area more strongly, citing a lack of places in the area to grab a quality cocktail and bar food beyond burgers. Don't expect any pizza, though. [Diablo Dish]
