Eater National has a great interview with Kim Alter, the Manresa, Acquerello, and Gary Danko alum who's now the chef of Daniel Patterson-owned Plum in Oakland. Herein, she discusses her journey as a chef, waiting tables to afford cooking at Manresa, and creating an identity of her own as the new chef of Plum: "I stand my ground and I'm like, 'No, if you want the burger you can go next door in the bar, but this is the food we're doing here.'"
