Followers of East Bay mobile pizza favorite Fist of Flour will have a brick-and-mortar pizza home base come tomorrow, when owner James Whitehead opens up his take-away counter on MacArthur Blvd. Don't expect full amenities at the new spot, however: It's a bare-bones operation with no seats, tables or restrooms. The so-called "dough-jo" is a redesign of the former Pizza Roma space, and has just undergone a light redesign from Whitehead, who's an amateur pizza enthusiast turned thin-crust emissary.

For now, the plan is to sell slices and two sized pizzas out of the shop, a 14" pie and a 20" pie, but Italian cold cut subs and salads could be on the way. Whitehead sources meats from the Molinari Salame Co. and features local purveyors like Sacred Wheel Cheese Shop and Dan's Fresh Produce whenever possible, and while the menu will rotate, look for favorites like the Soprano (sopressata salami, sliced shallots, mozzarella, house tomato sauce, fresh basil) and the Fruitvale (house made chorizo sausage, fresh corn, Poblano peppers, shallots, house tomato sauce, mozzarella, cilantro), plus vegetarian classic like the Margherita and the Funghi. And if you're further afield, fear not: the mobile catering operation will continue to operate out of the dough-jo's new kitchen.
