After numerous pop-ups and an Indiegogo campaign, Filipina chef Charleen Caabay has finally opened the doors on the brick-and-mortar space for her Oakland passion project, Kain'bigan. The restaurant's name comes from the Tagalog saying for "Let's eat, my friends," and visitors to Kain'bigan should expect to do exactly that, with lots of tasty, inexpensive options like chicken and pork adobo, vegetable pancit, chicken or vegetable lumpia, and chicken afritada. Caabay also offers silog, the Filipino breakfast of chicken, beef, longanisa sausage, or Spam with garlic fried rice and a fried egg, all day long. Here's the full menu.

The restaurant offers counter service and takeout, with a trio of cozy tables for those who want to dine in. Photographs of the Philippines by Caabay's sister Michelle line the walls. Hours are daily from 11 am-8 pm.
