Following in its older sister's footsteps, Berkeley’s Source Mini in Gourmet Ghetto's Epicurious Garden has shuttered. According to owner Mitchell Fox, there simply wasn't enough business to sustain it, but there are already new plans for the space, Berkeleyside reports.

Farm League Design & Management Group (Tigerlily, East Bay Spice Company, Westbrae Biergarten) have taken over and plan to open a salad bar and rotisserie restaurant managed by neighboring restaurant Tigerlily's culinary team.

Like Source Mini before it, the to-be-named spot will offer options for vegan, Paleo, dairy-, gluten- and nut-free diets.

"We also plan to feature full 'grab and go' meals that will be ideal for busy parents as well as hungry students," Farm League's Joel DiGiorgio said. Expect quickie options like full rotisserie chickens with pre-packaged salads and vegetarian-friendly sides to populate the menu.

Not to worry about the Source Mini staff — some have stayed on to work at the new place, which should be open late August or early September if construction, which has already begun, stays on course.
