OAKLANDFirebrand Artisan Breads has opened its first retail store at the Hive at 2343 Broadway. The brick-oven bakery will serve lunch from Pal’s Take Way as well as Highwire Coffee Roasters coffee and and tea, in addition, of course, to founder Matt Kreutz’s breads and partner Colleen Orlando’s pastries. JACKSON SQUARE — The Bubble Lounge has reopened as Barbarossa, a bar themed to the location’s past as a prison and the neighborhood’s as a red light district. MISSION — From the owners of Haight Street Market and Noriega Produce comes Gus's Community Market, a 12,000-square-foot grocery store at 2111 Haight St. with produce, a whole animal butcher shop, a local seafood station, a wine and spirits program, a deli, sushi, grab-and-go Greek items and an all-day café with a rotating menu of fresh juices smoothies, coffee, kombucha, eight draft beers, and ice cream. MENLO PARK — An Alain Ducasse-trained team has opened tiny pâtisserie Mademoiselle Colette at 816 Santa Cruz Ave., selling macarons, tarts, éclairs, croissants, madeleines and more. PLEASANTONThe Organic Coup, the country's first USDA-certified organic fast food restaurant, is now open for business, serving a fried chicken sandwich as its main item. Hours and menus can be found here. [EaterWire]

SOMA — Codeword, part nightclub and part pizzeria opened last week. The DJ-focused club and 24-hour pizzeria offers the same menu as DNA Pizza. [EaterWire]

MID-MARKETTacos Cala is now open for weekday to-go lunches in the alley behind Cala with tacos de guisado (homemade tacos, with tortillas formed from corn that is nixtamilized in-house), aguas frescas and iced horchata coffee. TENDERLOINWhole Beast, the meat stall in The Hall, has opened a seafood stand next door. Owner John Fink used to be a commercial fisherman and is using those talents to source the product for oysters, smoked salmon and sablefish, chilled seafood salads and tuna poke. COW HOLLOW — A Thai chicken-and-rice spot has opened in the old Lucky Dogs space at 2211 Filbert St. serving counter-service poached chicken or tofu over white or brown rice with steamed vegetables, sauce and chicken broth. Rooster & Rice is closed Sundays and Mondays to start, but you can check it out 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, and 11 a.m. to 9  p.m. Thursday through Saturday. [EaterWire]

UNION SQUARE — Crossing the Bay from Berkeley is Asha Tea House, now open at 17 Kearny St. with tableside teapot service, fruit and milk tea. It’s open to start from 11:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday. [EaterWire]

BERKELEY — After a 20-year close, Spats is back in Berkeley at 1974 Shattuck Ave. to serve locals some Fog Cutters, 25-cent wings on Wednesdays, tacos on Tuesdays and general bar food every day. Owners updated the space (and added a retractable roof to the 1,000-square-foot backyard patio as well as TV’s), but kept the "funky style" Spats-regulars remember. POTRERO HILLDat Spot Rotisserie & Comfort Food opened today in Chez Maman's old spot at 1453 18th St. The rotisserie chicken (served with two sides and two sauces) looks to be a favorite, though there are entrees like fried chicken, pork chops, and meatloaf to choose from as well. INNER RICHMONDKoja Kitchen opened a brick-and-mortar location in the Inner Richmond at 343 Clement St. last week, so now San Franciscans don't have to wait in the food truck line for their popular "burgers" and kamikaze fries. BERNAL HEIGHTSPinkie's Bakery opened their second location in the old Sandbox Bakery at 833 Cortland Ave. this weekend. SOUTH SAN FRANCISCOArmstrong Brewing, the South San Francisco brewery is now softly open at 415 Grand Avenue. MISSION—Yeral Caldas (Cholo Soy) opened his second Peruvian restaurant in San Francisco last week at 3015 Mission St. The new spot, El Ají, has 15 tables, a minimalistic interior, and serves simple dishes true to the Peruvian tradition. [Mission Local]
