Little Caesars Employee Shot in El Cerrito Armed Robbery

The robbers got away with the cash, after shooting a cooperative employee.

Pizza pizza got ugly ugly at El Cerrito's outpost of Little Caesars on Monday night, when two armed robbers shot an employee while she complied with their demands to empty cash from the register.

According to KRON4, the two suspects entered the restaurant around 8:29 pm, and demanded cash from the employee, described by police as a female in her 20s. But as she handed over the dough, the two robbers shot her with a handgun, for reasons that remain unclear. She was taken to a local trauma center, and a subsequent report added that she is expected to survive.

The suspects, described as Hispanic males in their 20s or 30s wearing dark clothing and hooded sweatshirts pulled over their faces, fled the scene with cash in hand. Officials say that because of the pizza shop's proximity to I-80, the suspects could have fled in any direction; they currently remain at large. It's also unclear how much cash was taken from the restaurant, but considering that Little Caesars has shifted its focus to $5 "Hot 'n Ready" pies in recent years, it can't have been much.
