Gyms aren't the only businesses making their way downtown. The Financial District's shopping scene has basically been in crazy expansion mode for at least a year and a half now, and it's not stopping anytime soon. The shops at Westfield World Trade Center are still slowly chugging along, and it looks like they'll start to roll out in the spring, one year after the first stores debuted at Brookfield Place (they're still rolling out new ones here, including Drybar and the just-announced Hickey Freeman.

Tribeca Citizen notes some newcomers to the previously announced tenant list, which started out with the likes of Michael Kors, Hugo Boss, Kiehl's, and John Varvatos before adding Banana Republic, Stuart Weitzman, a John Barrett salon and later Apple& Other Stories, and COS. The new businesses include Cartier, Moleskine, Bose, Aveda, Bebe, and Papyrus. Asics is also included in that list, but their retail future is unclear at the moment.

So while Westfield fine-tunes its high-low retail mix, a neighbor of Brookfield Place is going decidedly luxury. In a New York Times interview, real estate magnate Benjamin Shaoul gave the slightest of hints as to what we can expect to shop at 100 Barclay Street, also known as the Verizon Tower. "We're working feverishly on our retail" on the ground floor, he said. "We're speaking to several high-end apparel companies. I can't say who." As soon as we hear what these are, we'll let you know.

And finally, Seaport Studios is set to debut its Takeover #4 tomorrow. This time around, the roster at the rotating designer showcase includes A Peace Treaty, indie lingerie brand Negative Underwear, rain gear from the melancholic Stutterheim, beauty brands like Olio e Osso and Onomie, tees with Baron Von Fancy's "Babe" graphic , and more — read more about it here.
