The Veronica Beard Sample Sale's Best Bet Is Its Archival Pieces

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Today, Veronica Beard kicks off a two-day sample sale at its 26 West 17th Street showroom to offer up to 80% off of archival pieces, samples, and overstock. We visited the sale's preview yesterday to find that all merchandise categories and seasons were well-represented underneath two gold hexagonal chandeliers.

After taking the elevator to the third floor, enter Suite 301 to find one table of sweaters and another full of dickeys (they're kind of like a false zip-up hoodie that goes underneath your blazer — see what we mean toward the end of the gallery). Next to the tables, there is a rack of archival pieces, including a Mongolian fur jacket with leather trim ($295), a brocade coat ($550), blazers with dickeys ($295), and one lone leather jacket ($550). There isn't a huge selection, and these items will probably go quickly.

On the other side of the room, you'll find the sample section comprised of three racks, where we spotted a fur vest ($225), jackets ($160) dresses ($110), skirts ($80), and tops ($70). There is also two racks of sample blazers closest to the door. Beware: we noticed a few blazers and jackets that still had pins in them. The majority of the samples we saw were size 4 or 6.

Next to the samples is the overstock, and there is plenty of it in a range of sizes. Jumpsuits and dresses (both $195) are grouped together on one rack. Tops ($125) have their own rack, as do skirts and pants (both $150) are on another, and lastly, there is one full of blazers ($295) that can be worn with the dickeys displayed on one of the center tables. Click through the gallery above to see the sale's selection.

On Friday, the rest of the back stock will be added to the sale, but in a limited size run — so your best bet is to get there early to scoop up the good pieces (especially since we know there won't be any markdowns). We suggest either the Mongolian jacket with leather trim or pretty much anything in the sample section. Check out the Dealfeed below for more information.
