When we stopped by the BaubleBar sample sale at 260 Fifth Avenue on Thursday evening, there was a solid after-work crowd milling around and shopping a selection of jewelry that looked to be just as plentiful as opening day. The layout of the space still has lower-priced items on the periphery — $5 stud earrings on the far lefthand wall and $5 stacking rings along the back — and more statement pieces, like rows and rows of bold necklaces topping out at $25, in the middle.
Most of the shoppers were focusing on those necklaces, which are expectedly more expensive the more extravagant the design. We saw tables at $10, $12, $15, $20, and $25 price points, and in general, the more bejeweled and sparkly, the more enthusiastic were the shoppers. If you are looking for something to jazz up an otherwise boring t-shirt or LBD, you still have a huge range of options to choose from here (and staff said they have been restocking every day throughout the sale); check out the gallery above for recent examples.
For those in a daintier mood, the tables on the righthand wall (next to the cash registers) featured simpler chains, mostly in individual baggies. These were available for $5, $10, and $15, but each bag was marked with a color-coded price tag so you know what you're in for. This section seemed far less trafficked than the sparklier items (which maybe says something about the general BaubleBar customer), but could also have to do with the fact that shopping here is really tedious. It's hard to see what's what, and many people just looked like they had already lost their patience by the time they approached the table and immediately moved on to flashier pastures.
And, for something completely unexpected, there was still miscellany like iPhone cases, stationary, and scarves available. We didn't see anyone so much as glance at these items — but if you've always wanted some neon envelopes, that's an option for you, too.
We checked in about further markdowns, and while we wouldn't be surprised if they hit later in the sale, officially there has been no word yet as to if/when we could expect them. The sale runs through 8pm tonight and from 10am to 7pm on Saturday.
